Tucker Hibbert Trades-In Skis For Two Wheels

Thief River Falls, MN (March 18, 2003) - One of the winningest and greatest snowmobile racers in recent history is switching gears to chase a life-long dream. Team Arctic snocross sensation Tucker Hibbert (18) of Thief River Falls, Minn., announced that he will stop snowmobile racing to pursue a career racing motocross, beginning the summer of 2003.

“I’ve had a great and fulfilling career racing snocross,” said Hibbert. “I’ve worked with great people, enjoyed some awesome racing and achieved my goals. Now it’s time to pursue the other goals and dreams I’ve had.”

Hibbert’s success on the track was uncomparable. He began his racing career in earnest during the 2000 season at 15, competing in the World Snowmobile Association (WSA) Semi Pro classes. In a remarkable race that would set the tone for his entire career, young Hibbert took on and beat the world’s best professionals in the ESPN Winter X Games final, catapulting the humble and likable rider to instant celebrity.

He turned professional the next season and proceeded to win more races than the established stars of the sport, claiming one of two WSA Pro Championship titles and Racer of the Year honors from several magazines. In 2002 Hibbert continued his ascension, winning both Pro Championship titles. His 2003 season was just as stunning as he claimed 9 Pro victories. Beyond winning races, Hibbert was a favorite of racing fans who gravitated to his humble charm and welcomed his accessibility.

The son of Team Arctic legend Kirk Hibbert, Tucker raced for Arctic Cat his entire career. The Thief River Falls company and its people have enjoyed every step of his career, wish him the best for the future and will sorely miss his presence.

“We’re all sad to see Tucker go,” said Team Arctic Race Manager, Brian Sturgeon. “We all knew this day might come, and now that it has we hope for his continued success. Tucker has a rare talent for racing, and I’m sure he’ll do great things in motocross. If he ever wants to return to snowmobile racing, Team Arctic will welcome him with open arms.”
Arctic Cat Inc. designs, engineers, manufactures and markets snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) under the Arctic Cat brand name, as well as related parts, garments and accessories.
