Yamaha knew the FX Nytro models would bear the brunt of the cross country types in the Yamaha camp, so they’ve smartly fitted these models with a very capable new rear suspension. On the 144” XTX model, we find a compression-adjust rear track shock in the rear and a 40mm HPG at center. This is a fully-coupled suspension, so it’ll help keep the skis on the ground for great trail manners. Key is the six-degree tip-up at the rear of the rails, designed to lift the tail of the track off the ground when riding in hardpack. This allows the suspension to pivot much like a 121” sled on packed snow, yet you get the added length of the 144” in softer snow. Through the bumps, the suspension acts more like a 136” unit, so you get one suspension that works well across a wide range of conditions.
