Ever since Ski-Doo introduced their latest Gen 4 REV with the mighty 850 E-TEC two-stroke engine, trail riders everywhere have been holding their breath watching and waiting for a 600cc engine package in this responsive chassis.
Our first hint of what was to come was the introduction of the 2018 MX Zx 600 RS race sled, fitted with a next-generation E-TEC 600 engine. Riders everywhere knew it was only a matter of time before a consumer version of this technology became available.
And now, the time has come. Introducing the new benchmark for the 600 class, the 2018 MXZ 600R E-TEC. This all-new package brings the dynamic response and acceleration first introduced with the Rotax 850 E-TEC, plus all of the benefits of the agile and responsive REV Gen4 platform. Riders will appreciate the quick revving strong pull from corner to corner and ease of handling with big bump control this package delivers. This limited build model is available NOW, starting January 10th.
The heart and soul of this MXZ is the new, next-generation Rotax 600R E-TEC that brings more power – 125 horsepower – and shares many design features with its big brother, the Rotax 850 E-TEC. Features like the short intake tract, ultra-fast eRAVE, mono-block cylinder design with plasma coating and many other elements. As impressive as the output, response and acceleration are – the development team made sure to meet or exceed the same levels of reliability and efficiency that the Rotax 600 H.O. E-TEC is famous for.
The MXZ 600R E-TEC’s narrow engine provided the room needed to fit it in the REV Gen4 platform so now 600cc riders can enjoy the same balanced, precise handling and bump eating capabilities the platform is known for. Features like the RAS 3 front suspension with KYB Pro 36R shocks and rack steering up front compliment the rMotion in back that includes the Quick Adjust System.
New Rotax 600R E-TEC
BRP combines the lightweight, precise REV Gen4 platform with the Rotax 600R E-TEC to deliver an unmatched fun factor for 600 class trail riders. BRP engineering teams in Austria and Canada were given the mandate to create a new narrow design 600cc powerplant to fit the REV Gen4 platform with the same goals of the 850 E-TEC design: increase power, deliver exceptional dynamic response and reliability – all while maintaining the best-in-class E-TEC reputation in efficiency and durability established by its predecessor.
The 600R E-TEC offers 125 horsepower, plus application of the industry’s most advanced 2-stroke technology from the 850 E-TEC allowed BRP to create the most responsive 600cc engine available in the snowmobile market.
Based on the same square engine principles (bore and stroke being equal) as the 850 E-TEC, the 600R E-TEC delivers precise, dynamic response at any throttle position providing instant acceleration. This new engine design also allows for mass centralization within its REV Gen4 platform, delivering the most precise handling 600cc snowmobile. Here’s how that’s accomplished:
* 599.4 cc – bore 72.3mm x Stroke 73 mm
* Additional 5cc over previous 600cc-class engine
* Mono-block cylinder design – maximum transfer port efficiency
* eRAVE with 3-position electronically controlled exhaust valve ( as per 850 E-TEC)
* Shorter intake tract (as per 850 E-TEC) – 35% closer
* Double reed valves (as per 850 E-TEC)
Responsiveness – Creating that same instant throttle response of the 850 E-TEC was a primary goal with the 600R E-TEC for BRP engineering. Using some of the same technologies from the 850 E-TEC, this engine delivers instant acceleration one throttle squeeze after another.
* Second Generation E-TEC fuel injection (same as 850 E-TEC)
* Lightweight, low inertia cranktrain including pDrive and magneto
* Ring gear incorporated into flywheel
* More precise cylinder head voice-coil injectors
* eRAVE that reacts three times faster
* Redesigned exhaust for improved airflow
Efficiency/Durability – Maintaining class-leading efficiency and durability was a primary concern in the 600R E-TEC development.
* Plasma-coated cylinders (as per 850 E-TEC) – reduced friction, holds oil better
* Optimized balancing of the cranktrain components pDrive primary
* Robust, powerful magneto is slimmer and lighter ECM (as per 850 E-TEC) twice as fast as previous version to manage engine efficiently
* eRAVE delivers better control and efficiency
* Integrated Electric Start
* Intake system improvements with REV Gen4
rMotion 129 rear suspension with Quick Adjust System (QAS): The industry standard for control, capability, comfort and adjustability. Supple ride in small bumps and added capability in large ones and the most rising-rate motion ratio in the industry. 129” length has superior traction, braking and bump filtration while still delivering the precise handling and cornering MXZ sleds are known for. Remote adjustments for shocks & springs with easy-adjust coupling blocks.
Premium rear shock package: HPG Plus center shock, KYB Pro 36 rear shock featuring remote compression adjustment. Aluminum body, rebuildable/revalvable.
RAS 3 front suspension: State-of-the-art unequal length A-arm front suspension provides outstanding bump absorption and precise handling, even in harsh conditions.
Rack steering system: Derived from the MXZx race sled, further increases front suspension precision and straight tracking in extreme bumps.
KYB Pro 36 R piggyback front shocks: Extreme capability, extreme durability shocks for control in the toughest conditions. New design is more efficient for higher performance; compression and rebound calibration ranges are optimized. Easy Adjust knobs for compression and rebound adjustments. Aluminum body, rebuildable/revalvable.
Forward Adjustable Riser: 4 in./10 cm of no-tool fore-aft adjustment to customize the riding position instantly.
