2006 and 2007 Yamaha Apex-based fuel injected models are fitted with an auxiliary cooling fan and radiator, mounted on the right side of the machine just behind the braking system. This feature has been added to the fuel-injected engine configuration to better maintain engine coolant temperature in adverse conditions.
If the fan comes on, you are getting fairly close to a overheat warning indicator; the fan will come on if the coolant temperature reaches 95 degrees C (203 F) while the overheat warning lamp is activated at 100 C (212 F). The fan will turn off once the coolant reaches 85 C (185 F).
