LOW ELEVATION SUPERCHARGER KIT FOR FX NYTRO
Mountain Performance Kit Sold By Yamaha Dealers
From SnowTech Magazine’s October / November 2012 print issue.
Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S.A. has announced it will distribute a low-elevation Trail Supercharger kit, a complete bolt-on, premium pump-gas upgrade for its FX Nytro models and exclusive to Yamaha from Mountain Performance Inc. (MPI). The supercharger provides instant throttle response and a power increase of up to 45 horsepower over stock and is designed for operation at low elevations from 0-6000 feet.
The Trail Supercharger kit is designed and engineered to provide quality installation, fit and finish with no modifications to the Nytro’s hood or side panels. All wiring uses stock-style connectors, eliminating the need to cut or splice the wiring harness. Call it stealth, as nobody will know what you have lurking underneath the hood, until you line up and show them who’s the boss.
MPI’s experts designed this kit to work seamlessly with Yamaha fuel injection system components and to use the stock exhaust. The result is a performance boost while delivering day-to-day operational characteristics similar to the stock sled. Until you get into the throttle, as the supercharger will produce 5 pounds of intake boost pressure and give you 180 horsepower and 116 pound-feet of arm-stretching torque.
Designed to fit 2008-to-2013 FX Nytro, Nytro RTX, Nytro RTX SE, Nytro XTX and Nytro XTX 1.75 snowmobiles, this kit uses the stock exhaust system and includes everything needed to roll – the supercharger, additional heat exchanger, gearing components (for both long track XTX and short track 121” models), clutching components (flyweights, rivets, rollers), and a set of ice scratchers (to ensure adequate cooling).
Important note: While installation of this kit will not ‘void’ the snowmobile’s warranty, specific failures determined by Yamaha to have resulted from installation of kit components or other modifications may not be covered by the Yamaha limited warranty or extended service coverage. So in other words, just because this kit is sold by Yamaha and installed by a Yamaha dealer does not mean you walk out the door with an all-inclusive warranty. That said, the kit itself includes a one-year limited warranty from the kit manufacturer (Mountain Performance).
Base MSRP is $4,399.95, and Yamaha expects to begin delivery by mid-October 2012. The same kit works for all of the FX Nytro 121” and 144” models, as it includes the gearing for both track lengths. Order kit #SMA-SUPER-20-00 from any Yamaha snowmobile dealer.
