2014 Yamaha Chaincase Upgrades
One of the changes being made to some of the 2014 Yamaha models as a result of the mutual supply agreement with Arctic Cat can be found in the chaincase. Sources tell SnowTech Magazine that we will now find a new 13-wide Borg Warner chain and machined gears (not stamped) and a new manual chain tensioner, all in an effort to improve chaincase durability and performance. The manual chain tensioner will require inspection and adjustment after the first 500 miles, which will require the removal of the muffler (silencer) but what we have here is a case of improving the long term durability (manual chain tensioner) at the expense of convenience (automatic chain tensioner).
Other detail changes that we’ve learned of include changes to many of the body panels for improved fit and finish, and changes to the seat to improve the fit, make the base stronger and improve the latch at the rear.
