2018 Arctic Cat Norseman – Blurring the Lines Between Work and Play

There’s a new hybrid machine in the Arctic Cat line-up for 2018, and it’s not an electric sled – by hybrid we’re talking about a utility-touring machine that blurs the lines between hardworking and playing. It’s the all-new Norseman, offered in a 125 HP 600c 2-stroke twin or a 65 HP 700cc 4-stroke.

The Norseman lets you kill two birds with one Cat. Now you can crawl where you want to go and haul what you need to take with, all in a single sled. The XTRA-ACTION rear suspension is an articulating 154” rail wrapped with a capable 1.6” lug Cobra track, giving you flotation and traction in all snow conditions with the ability to back up with ease. The Norseman rides on an updated ProUte chassis fitted with a large rear rack and wide ProUte 10/8 skis, with a standard tunnel bag. Arctic Cat IFP shocks all around provide excellent suspension comfort and capability, whether you are romping down a trail or loading on the cargo. A tall seat makes it easy to stand up, giving you excellent control of the machine in all conditions.

Our saddle time on the Norseman 6000 convinced us of the versatility and capability of the package. It was plenty capable on trail and even more capable off trail, with the ability to serve as a work horse. You could easily ride it as a trail sled for days on end. You could easily ride it in deep snow all year long and never get stuck. With the standard pivot tow hitch you can attach a tow sled and haul your gear into the cabin, or out to the fish house. Or, load up the great big rack on the tunnel and take off on a saddlebag trip for several days. If you need two-up capability, you can swap out the seat for that, as well.

Where the 6000 Series engine is a perfect match for the track length, the 3000 Series is even quieter with plenty of torque to get the work done, just not at the same speeds the 6000 is capable of. If range and fuel are an issue, then the 3000 model will be the sled of choice as it will sip the fuel even easier.
