After running the big article on the Diamond Drive gearbox that replaces the jackshaft and chaincase, several readers wanted to know if this system was ever available from Black Diamond for installation into Polaris RMKs, Yamaha RX-1s and Ski-Doo REVs?

According to Wayne Nicholson of Black Diamond, they were called upon by their partner Arctic Cat to provide extra parts when a shortage occurred due to an identified heat-treating issue on the 2004 ZR 900s that were fitted with the ACT version of the Diamond Drive. Black Diamond had a substantial inventory of parts, in anticipation of their aftermarket release of their version, but responded to Arctic Cat and supplied their parts to help keep owners of the ZR 900s up and running.

Now that the heat treating issue has been identified and resolved, Black Diamond expects to be able to ship their kits this season for aftermarket installations.
