The next-generation of snowmobile track has arrived with the Camso Storm 150. Designed for modern rider-forward snowmobiles, it is capable of breathtaking acceleration on-trail, excellent flotation off-trail and crisp control in all conditions.

“High performance trail riders have been migrating towards deeper lug tracks in an effort to get better acceleration, traction and control, while still being able to venture into deep snow,” explains Bruce Dashnaw at Camso. “But the deeper lugs often result in a need for greater throttle input and a reduction in rider comfort. The Camso Storm 150 provides an innovative solution to push riders to a new height of performance.”

This new lug pattern takes lessons learned from the popular Cobra and RipSaw II track designs to give us a new lug pattern to excel in an even wider range of conditions. The Camso Storm 150 gives riders the best of both worlds by using 1.5-inch cup-shaped center lugs (think Cobra) that scoops into soft, loose snow conditions while also providing improved acceleration on packed trails. Combined with 1.25-inch outer lugs, it provides power and control through the tightest turns by improving tail slide capacity (think RipSaw II). It also maintains ground contact during pitch turns. Optimized support columns give this track the right balance of lug rigidity and flex for excellent all-round performance, with much firmer lugs than the Cobra pattern. The result is the first two-lug height trail track of its kind, available in 120, 129, 137 and 146 inch lengths. The repeating lug pattern features most lugs at 1.5”, with some outer lugs at 1.25” and other lugs at a stepped height, 1.5” in the middle that step down to the outer lug 1.25” height.

The Camso 150 is an evolution of lug design, bringing the characteristics of the Cobra 1.6 and RipSaw II together for an even better hybrid pattern that scoops into both loose snow and hardpack while allowing some tail slide for flatter cornering. Kind of the best of both, wrapped into one.

As well, the trail track’s design symmetry and profile geometry make the snowmobile feel more firmly planted to the trail for better handling even at high speeds, while at the same time significantly reducing noise compared to many other trail tracks. This track will perform better in a wider range of conditions – better on trail than the Cobra and better off trail than the Ripsaw II, making it an ideal selection for many crossover sled riders.

In their efforts to create the Camso Storm 150, Camso engineers co-developed the design with the help of Polaris, long-time partner and customer of Camso. “Further feedback was provided by Polaris on the performance characteristics of the track, allowing us to further improve the Storm 150’s features. The result is an innovative new trail track that provides all-out acceleration and agility, whether the rider chooses to tear up trails or carve through fresh powder,” says Dashnaw.

The Camso Storm 150 made its first public appearance at HayDays, the world’s biggest snowmobile and ATV event in the world, in North Branch, Minnesota on September 9 and 10. It will be available to purchase this Winter through Camso’s established network of powersports dealers worldwide, as well as being offered through Polaris dealers as an accessory item.
