Snowmobiles like the Yamaha Apex and other new high torque four-stroke snowmobile engines are easily handled by the latest 9″ DYNOmite toroid absorbers from Land & Sea. The toroid’s reduced internal volume (and a new higher volume discharge design) allow these high-tech units to maintain RPM control – even when radical camshaft profiles, superchargers or turbos are fitted. In fact, these are the same dynamometers used by most shops to crank out the latest hop-up equipment for these 21st century machines.
Actually, all of Land & Sea’s toroidal flow absorber models benefit from these important characteristics. Unlike older straight-vane rotor absorbers the toroidal flow pattern (between the stator and rotor chambers) is far less turbulent – producing almost twice the torque load per each molecule of water. Because less water volume must reside within the absorber to hold any given engine output, it takes less fill/drain time to vary that volume. These brakes can go from 0% to 100%, and back again, in just a fraction of the time as compared to traditional models. The bottom line…? Far superior manual and automated load control, for any type of engine.
