Dear Ralph:
I bought a new Ski-Doo MXZ REV this past season, and I really like the machine but there is one annoying thing that I can’t seem to figure out. I like to watch the tripmeter as I’m riding so I know how far back a particular road or intersection is. Problem is, the speedometer is stuck in some mode where whatever I have set to be displayed in the LCD screen is switched off and the speed is displayed instead. The speedo is already showing me how fast I’m going, so why in the world does the LCD need to give me this same info twice? If I set the thing to show me the tripmeter, it second-guesses me and shows speed. What good is this?

It only does this when you’ve going like over 50 mph, but it is really annoying and downright a pain in the butt because you lose the ability to track mileage as you pass things. Is this just the way it is, or is there some programming I don’t know about that can reset this? HELP!

Mike Davis

It’s not you; it’s the internal programming of the tripmeter and the LCD display. At a speed of 55 mph and higher, the LCD screen will display speed only instead of the mode you selected. Evidently you’re not smart enough to watch that great big dial as to how fast you’re going, and need to be shown the speed a second time.

I agree with you, it is a royal pain for riders who like to track locations on the fly. Some would argue that you shouldn’t be looking at the tripmeter when you’re going over 55 mph, but this really is condition dependent. I know of now way around this, so we’re stuck with this annoyance. If you want that data you’re just going to have to slow down.
