Higher Compression Reduces RPM

If you should decide to increase the compression ratio of your engine during the course of modifications, remember that this will also reduce the peak operating RPM of the engine package. And, the higher the compression is the higher the quality of fuel that must be used for any given elevation to prevent detonation. Also, too much compression can make the engine surge. Therefore, use wise judgment when modifying or replacing your heads, as they interact with, and are simply one part of, the total engine package that must be considered in the pursuit of big power.
