Leaky Oil Tank – 2001 Polaris XC 500 SP

Dear Ralph:
I have a 2001 Polaris XC 500 SP and the oil tank started to leak from the low oil sending unit grommet. Do you know of, or have any info on fixing this the right way the first time? I just want to make sure I get it fixed right the first time, as I don’t want to have to deal with it again.

Back when this first started to happen, dealers were using things like crankcase sealer to keep the grommet from leaking, but Polaris has since came out with a new-style grommet to fix the problem. If you get yourself a new grommet, it should be a one-time fix.
