Dear Ralph:
I own a 2004 Ski-Doo GSX LTD with a 600 SDI motor. The problem I have is the bolts that hold the exhaust manifold to the motor keep coming loose. I remember reading something about this in one of my SnowTechs that BRP has a new bolt that will help with this problem. Can you help?

Ski-Doo took action with this by using bolts with hi-temp thread locking compound pre-applied on their 2005 models. These new “Scotch-grip” bolts should do the trick on your engine, order (4) of Ski-Doo part # 514 054 047. I suppose one could also try and use a hi-temp thread locking compound on your existing bolts, but I would tend to believe the type used by Ski-Doo was found to work best. I’m always nervous about the manifold bolts and stripping out the aluminum of the cylinders, so pay attention to torque-specs and don’t over tighten any of these.
