Lubricating Grease for Snowmobiles

…lubricating grease has a specification system with two basic performance groups; chassis lubricants (letter designation L) and wheel bearing lubricants (letter designation G). Performance categories within these groups result in two-letter designations for chassis greases (LA and LB) and three for wheel bearing greases (GA, GB and GC). It is generally accepted that the highest performance category in each group (LB and GC) are suitable for service re-lubrication.

For snowmobiles, a grease with the GC-LB designation and low temperature pumpability are best suited for our applications. A synthetic lithium complex grease, for example, is specified for use at temperatures as low as –65 F, making it ideal for sleds. Always wipe each grease fitting clean before attaching the grease gun to avoid forcing dirt or debris into the fitting.
