Now that the 2006 production snowmobiles have arrived at the dealers, we’ve been able to do some side-by-side comparisons with our traditional favorite Summit windshields. The fixed windshield coming on all of the short tracked REV models this year is very similar to the fixed Summit windshield we’ve been attaching to our REVs for the past few years, but there is additional coverage in the area down below where your hands are on the handlebars. These new windshields attach to the clear plastic “wings” up on the sides of the REV models, and should do a better job at keeping your hands and knees warm.

They do not have quite as much height, but they’re very close. Appearance–wise they come across as being more square and less rounded than the Summit windshields. The attachment holes with rubber grommets are in the same place across the front, but the two side mounts are lower on the new piece. To install a Summit windshield on one of these 2006s you would need to drill these two side holes and insert the rubber grommets, then they fit. Just follow the dimensions in the installation instructions that came with the Summit windshields when purchased as accessory items and you’re all over it.
