Back a few years ago when we could lift the hood on a sled and get at the exhaust, many of us would mount a “Hot Dogger” cooker on top of the exhaust so we could cook lunch while out riding. We mount strap the Hot Dogger to the exhaust using great big hose clamps, trying to find a location that would let the hood close but also not too close to the engine as the cooking temperature would get too hot if you mounted it too close to the engine. New sleds don’t give us that luxury anymore, with hoods that really don’t open like they used to, so it is now more difficult to mount a Hot Dogger / Hot Pot onto most exhaust pipes, and difficult to get the food into and out of the cooker.

Now days, the side panels swing out on most of the new sleds. Which leads us to this latest development. The team at Starting Line Products also liked to mount a Hot Pot to their exhaust, so when they were developing their latest silencers for the new Polaris AXYS models, they noticed there just might be enough room on top of the silencer to incorporate a built-in bracket that would again allow us to mount a Hot Pot cooker (or Hot Dogger). It is even located such that the heat will evenly cook your lunch of choice, and without sacrificing the integrity of the muffler.

Starting Line Products offers silencers for the 2016 & 2017 Polaris AXYS RMK, SKS & Assault RMK models with an integrated mount for a cooker. They tell us it will NOT fit a RUSH or Switchback, so don’t try. The silencer comes in your choice of three different finishes, with each one selling for $309.95. You can also get the complete single pipe set for the 800 with one of these silencers for $729.95, good for a 14.5 pound weight reduction and a healthy 9 HP gain in power. Each of these silencers has been tested and passes the SAE J-2567 stationary sound test below 88 dB, and no fuel controller is required, but clutching changes should be made to best capture the power increase and get it down to the track. The cooker, of course, is sold separately. The stainless steel Hot Pot cooker can be ordered from Full Throttle Inc. (www.fullthrottleinc.com) or from Amazon.com for $39.95. The Hot Dogger cooker can be ordered from Flat-O Products (www.flat-o.com) or from Amazon.com for about $33.
