To get the most out of the new turbocharged engine performance with no compromise to Yamaha’s reputation for industry leading drive belt durability, Yamaha engineers designed a revised CVT clutch system for the Sidewinder models. This new clutching system is being called the YSRC Transmission System and it is found exclusively on all of the 2017 Yamaha Sidewinder models.

A new reverse cam secondary features roller cam followers to reduce friction (yes, a roller secondary from Yamaha). Special high efficiency casting designs improve aerodynamic power loss and reduce temperature. The sheave casting strength has also been improved to handle the higher horsepower and the drive ratio has been increased for a wider shift ratio and greater speed range, allowing the use of lower final gears which also allows for a lower track speed at clutch engagement. This preserves drive belt durability under extreme load and acceleration. Additional benefits are gained through a more stable shift RPM under all conditions and more effective sheave width adjustment.
